Job description

Purpose :

The Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies (LA&PS) is the largest Faculty at York University with over 24, undergraduate and graduate students, and almost programs delivered through 25 Departments, Schools and Colleges, plus the IBM Markham Learning Site. The Undergraduate Program Administrator role is responsible for supporting the undergraduate program, is the primary staff contact for undergraduate program inquiries including policies, procedures and regulations of the University, Faculty and academic unit, and providing administrative support to the Undergraduate Program Director and / or Program Coordinators. The role provides continuity, historical perspective and transitional support to UPDs and / or Program Coordinators during their term appointments. This position contributes positively and professionally to the team, the department and the Faculty, including fostering an environment that is welcoming and supportive for students ( student-centered service delivery).The Undergraduate Program Administrator role will also support the vision, mission, values and strategic direction of the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies and York University, and contribute to a positive, supportive and client-focused team environment of high performance, respect, trust, collaboration and continuous improvement, embraces diversity and fosters inclusion.

Education :

College Certificate in Office Administration or equivalent ( one year of related University courses).

Experience : Skills :

Knowledge of academic administration processes (course scheduling, curriculum support).

Knowledge of and experience utilizing degree progress report would be an asset.

Ability to deal courteously and effectively with people.

Effective oral communication skills to elicit and provide accurate information in a clear and concise manner including active listening, good written communication skills, minute taking.

Ability to exercise the skills of good judgment, tact, diplomacy, and initiative.

Effectiveness in attending accurately to details.

The ability to work independently as well as an effective member of a team.

Efficient organizational skills are essential to simultaneously handle competing priorities.

The ability to work efficiently and effectively in a complex, rapidly changing high volume environment, including the ability to multi-task, set priorities and meet deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and apply new computer applications, new procedures.

Ability to source, evaluate, analyze and summarize information for reporting and planning purposes.

Demonstrated experience in the development and preparation of promotional materials and written content would be preferred.

Keyboarding 40-45 , accuracy essential.

MS Word (advanced level), MS Excel (intermediate level).

E-mail software ( Microsoft ).

Proficiency with on-line student records system (SIS) or a similar on-line databaseOther :
