Ophthalmologist

We are seeking a team-oriented and professional Ophthalmologist (FRCSC). The specialist will join us in an independent, fee-for-service, community based Ophthalmology practice. The Prince Albert Ophthalmology Division currently includes 3 specialists with diverse sub-specialty interests. Individuals with special interest and expertise in ophthalmology will be a definite asset and deserve preference.

Ophthalmology services are based out of Prince Albert Victoria Hospital, The Eye Centre coordinates its activities with other hospital departments, external agencies and health care professionals, to provide optimal client care.

Call coverage is a requirement for the position and would be 1 : 4, Monday to Monday 0800 to 0800 which covers out of town calls, Emergency Departments and Ophthalmology after hour calls. There is a separate rotation for long weekends. In addition to fee-for-service, you would be eligible for any on-call retainer consistent with the Specialist Emergency Coverage Program.

Job Qualifications

Successful candidates will hold certification from the in Ophthalmology and be eligible for regular licensure from the to practice in Saskatchewan. This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care. In accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada. The start date for this position is negotiable. The Victoria Hospital is a regional hospital with 164 acute care beds including an 8-bed intensive care unit that provides services to a population of 80,000 which includes northern and northeastern Saskatchewan. Dubbed “The Gateway to the North”, Prince Albert is in close proximity to a multitude of freshwater lakes and woodlands with outdoor activities for every season.
