Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
The Consultant, Medication Safety assists in the development, implementation, and monitoring of medication safety programs and initiatives, and is responsible for the development and effectiveness of policies, procedures, and standards for the program, in order to ensure safe and appropriate medication use processes for patients across the organization. Serves as a liaison between pharmacy, nursing, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals, in order to ensure safe and standardized medication use processes. The Consultant provides expertise for the application and integration of evidence-based systems and tools designed to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, safety, and sustainability of health services.
Travel may be a requirement of this position. Transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and may require the use of a personal vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Education, Training And Experience
Graduation from a recognized nursing program or evidence of an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Five (5) years of recent related experience in a clinical setting including : working with the PSLS reporting system; applying quality improvement methodology; data analysis; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Valid BC Driver's license.
