Job description

Are you currently enrolled in post-secondary education related to Planning and interested in getting hands on experience? Are you a self starter with excellent time management, organizational and problem solving skills? If so, we want you on our Development & Engineering Services team!

As the successful candidate, you will assist Planning staff with respect to long-range projects and current development applications. You will be expected to assist other staff in the Community Services Department on various projects and activities as well as being responsible for day-to-day planning duties such as coordinating meetings, research, and assisting the public.

You will assist Planning staff by :

  • Responding to public and agency inquiries by providing information and education regarding land use regulations, local bylaws and provincial legislation.
  • Providing technical support for projects and development applications.
  • Preparation of land use referrals and Board reports by researching, gathering information and drafting material for Planning staff review.
  • Updating Planning section records (electronic and paper files).
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be eligible for this position, you must be currently enrolled and returning in the Fall of 2025 to a post-secondary educational program related to Planning. You must have excellent communication, interpersonal and computer skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. A Driver's Abstract with record of safe driving is required.

The positions will commence May 5, 2025 and conclude August 22, 2025 and the hours of work will be Monday to Friday, 8 : 00am to 4 : 00pm. We offer a wage of $22.46 per hour plus 4% in lieu.
