Job description

Our client is a leading player in Canada’s power generation sector, committed to delivering sustainable and efficient energy solutions. They are seeking an Asset Analyst to support asset management, financial reporting, and optimization efforts. This role requires expertise in capitalization principles, asset lifecycle management, and financial analysis within the power generation industry.

Job Summary :

The Asset Analyst will be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing power generation assets, ensuring compliance with capitalization policies and financial reporting standards . This role works cross-functionally with operations, finance, and engineering teams to drive data-driven decision-making and maximize asset value.

Key Responsibilities :

Asset Management & Capitalization Compliance :

  • Maintain asset records and ensure compliance with capitalization policies.
  • Monitor asset performance, depreciation, and financial impact.
  • Support the tracking of capital projects, ensuring proper classification of capital vs. operational expenditures.

Financial & Operational Analysis :

  • Assist in financial reporting related to capital assets and asset performance.
  • Analyze cost trends, asset valuations, and financial impacts of capital projects.
  • Ensure accurate asset data for budgeting, forecasting, and investment planning.
  • Process Improvement & Systems Support :

  • Utilize asset management software to track asset health, maintenance, and performance.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements in asset utilization.
  • Support the implementation of asset tracking and reporting tools.
  • Collaboration & Reporting :

  • Work with finance, engineering, and operations teams to provide insights and support decision-making.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on asset performance, lifecycle trends, and financial impacts.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance and reporting related to asset management.
  • Qualifications & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in asset management, financial analysis, or related roles in the power generation, utilities, or energy industries.
  • Strong understanding of capitalization principles, asset accounting, and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in asset management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
  • Experience working with capital projects, capital expenditure (CapEx), and operational expenditure (OpEx).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications (Not Required) :

  • Experience in renewable energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of Canadian regulatory standards for power generation.
