Position : Senior AccountantLocation : Ontario, remote or hybrid options availableJob Overview : Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join their globally based accounting team.
This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records across multiple international entities.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with expertise in IFRS as well as US GAAP, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards in reporting and compliance.
Key Responsibilities : - Prepare and enter journal entries, maintaining accurate documentation for various expense accounts, assets, accruals, inter-company transactions, and equity dealings.
- Complete timely consolidated balance sheet reconciliations for multiple companies, ensuring all records are supported by thorough documentation.
- Review contracts, orders, and vouchers to prepare supporting documents that align with IFRS, local accounting standards, and US GAAP, ensuring accurate transaction substantiation.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in accounting entries, documents, and reports, maintaining compliance with Corporate Policy and IFRS requirements.
- Analyze and comment on significant balance sheet and income statement trends, providing detailed explanations for changes in assigned areas, considering both IFRS and US GAAP standards.
- Collaborate with accounting management and IT to enhance and implement accounting controls over processes, procedures, and systems, ensuring alignment with IFRS and local regulations.
- Make informed recommendations regarding the accounting of reserves, assets, and expenditures within assigned scope areas, with a focus on IFRS compliance.
- Liaise with external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations for transactions within your scope, including those related to IFRS.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within general accounting and actively contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support acquisition-related accounting activities, including opening balance sheets, account mapping, policy alignment, and month-end close processes, ensuring adherence to IFRS.
- Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, and oversee bank relationships and Treasury operations for foreign entities, applying IFRS standards as necessary.
Qualifications : - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.- At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience.
- CPA / Chartered Accountant designation or public accounting experience is a plus.- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- In-depth knowledge of US GAAP; familiarity with IFRS is essential.- High energy, positive attitude, and a collaborative, team-oriented work style.
