Job Duties Job Duties We are looking for a Research Associate to lead a project for the Office of Applied Research and Innovation! Our project, A Social Impact Hub scoping and feasibility study, will explore viable options for Saskatchewan Polytechnic to implement a Social Impact Hub (SIH). We use SIH as a catch-all term for coordinated structures within institutions that provide a range of services and resources related to ‘Social’ issues. Variously, SIHs provide services and resources relating to

  • Equity and diversity
  • Student and staff health and wellness
  • Integrating EDI into programming, policies and processes
  • Community partnerships and applied research to tackle urgent social challenges in our communities

Also relevant, and normally captured under “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion”, is :

  • Reconciliation.
  • We think this worth separating out and highlighting, as this is an area where Saskatchewan Polytechnic could be a National leader by adopting Reconciliation as a founding principle of an institutional SIH.

    QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE Specific Accountabilities In the appointment of Research Associate, general duties and responsibilities will be as follows :

  • Conduct a literature review to provide essential project context
  • Establish collegial working relationships with industry partners and colleagues
  • Coordinate an advisory committee, administer and run committee meetings
  • Engage internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant information
  • Review internal staffing, strategies, policies and processes relevant to the project
  • Synthesize information gathered and assist with reporting
  • Direct the day-to-day work of 1-2 Student Research Assistants
  • Troubleshoot problems interfering with the project’s success
  • Duties Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)

  • Completed, or currently enrolled in a postgraduate program (PhD preferred) in fields related to social impact and social justice
  • Alternatively, significant experience in the field of social impact and provision of services and resources relating to equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation
  • Demonstrates valuing diversity
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrates experience in qualitative research, and data analysis and synthesis
  • Experience working independently to meet established deadlines
  • Demonstrate competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Teams, and Zoom.
  • Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment
