About Us
Engineering for Kids (EFK) has been delivering interactive, hands-on STEM classes and camps for children ages 5-12 in Victoria since 2016. We believe that children learn best when they're having fun, and it's just as important for our instructors to have fun too! We encourage you to bring your own ideas, passions, and expertise to the job.
Position Overview
As a STEM Instructor, you will play a crucial role in delivering our engaging educational programs. You will work closely with a co-instructor to create a fun, supportive, and inclusive environment for children who range in age from 5-7 and 8-12 years. Our class sizes are small, with a 1 instructor per 8 children (or less) ratio.
Your main responsibilities will include :
Setting up, maintaining, and taking down program space and supplies.Organizing and leading themed activities for students.Supervising and managing individual and group behavior.Encouraging, supporting, and engaging with students.Providing appropriate support that considers the unique abilities of each student.Collaborating with co-leads to create and maintain a fun, safe, and inclusive environment.Communicating with EFK Admin and venue contacts with program updates.Applying feedback from other instructors and the EFK Admin team.Contributing to and providing feedback on curriculum development.Demonstrating initiative by seeking additional Engineering For Kids training and further education.Being professional, courteous, and approachable to students, parents, and staff.Being a positive role model - the children look up to you!Training
In-person training opportunities are available during the week and on weekends, scheduled around your availability. Note : summer camp training will have designated days and times in June.
Class and camp schedule
Classes run 7 days per week at varying times. Spring Break camps are scheduled for March 17-21 and March 24-28. Summer camps begin the first week of July.
Instructor schedule
Instructors are scheduled based on availability and registration. Classes run until mid-June and will resume in September. Summer camp training begins in June, with camps running throughout July and August.
Locations
Various recreation centres in Victoria, Oak Bay, Saanich, West Shore, and Sidney.
Pay Range
19.40 - $21.48 ($18.65- $20.65 plus 4% in lieu of vacation pay).

Customer service (any preferred).Teaching (1-3 years preferred).Working with children ages 5-12 (1-3 years preferred).Robotics and coding (1-3 years preferred).Minecraft (1-3 years preferred).Hands-on building (1-3 years preferred).Group management (experience with large groups is an asset).Behaviour management (experience with large groups is an asset).Enjoys working with children ages 5-12.Can communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences (students, parents, etc.).Breaking down STEM concepts into basic explanations.Thinking on your feet and finding solutions to everyday camp issues or challenges.Engaging children through hands-on learning.Receiving constructive feedback.Able to be standing and walking for most of the day.Interests :

Between 15 and 30 years of age.A Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident.Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.Required Certifications (or willing to obtain) :
Current Emergency First-Aid and CPR C Certificate.Clean Police Information Check (PIC) with vulnerable sector screening, obtained within the last 4 months.Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
