We are looking for a motivated and talented individual currently pursuing a degree in Commerce, Finance, or a related field to join our Accounting and Risk Assurance & Advisory (RAAS) teams as a co-op or intern for an 8 month term, starting in May 2025.
Throughout your time in this role you will be exposed to various aspects of financial accounting, internal controls, compliance and risk management in a well enabled Finance team.
Your areas of responsibility will include supporting :
- RAAS with the coordination and execution of SOX compliance programs and planned assurance and advisory engagements, including participation in enterprise risk management assessment workshops
- Operational Accounting in managing a portfolio of $650 million in cash and marketable securities, where you will play a crucial role in accurately recording cash transactions and ensuring the integrity of our financial records through the reconciliation process.
While in this on-site position, based in beautiful Vancouver, you will receive guidance and supervision from experienced team members within the Accounting and RAAS teams.
The internship is designed to offer exposure to real-world projects and the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of antibody-based medicines from target to clinic within Canada.
How you might spend your days
- Contributing to the completion of the SOX compliance program by analyzing, reviewing, and testing accounting and financial controls as well as working with our external auditors
- Participating in the performance of different aspects of assurance and advisory engagements, including planning, executing and reporting
- Assisting with enterprise risk assessment workshops in support of the enterprise risk management assessment
- Applying basic accounting principles to routine business transactions and recording related journal entries
- Contributing to projects to support monthly and quarterly financial reporting rhythms
- Assisting with Canadian and US tax compliance filings and preparing documentation for audit requests
- Participating in projects to improve processes and controls across the finance department, including new system implementations
- Supporting on Enterprise Data capture initiatives to inform longer term forecasting

What we offer
AbCellera’s hiring range for this role is CAD $3,300 - $3,700 per month, commensurate with your education and job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
