Purpose
The Associate Director, Global Governance & Controls is a key member of the Global Banking and Markets Internal Control team.
This role helps drive the group’s change agenda by leading / assisting in the management of global programs and projects.
The role will ensure that change is managed to a defined methodology and standard and in keeping with the global operating model.
The role contains a strong strategic component and will require engagement with senior stakeholders (Regional control heads, Global Compliance, and others) accordingly.
What You'll Do :
- Work with regional internal control teams, GBM business stakeholders and risk partners in the local and global implementation of programs and projects designed to deliver new and enhanced control processes, procedures and tools
- Assist Director, Global Governance and Controls in the response to ad-hoc requests / initiatives and ensure consideration of global consistency and sustainability of solutions where applicable
- Assist Director, Global Governance and Controls in assessment of escalated issues and, under their guidance, work with key stakeholders on remediation and appropriate solutions
- Apply project management expertise to ensure that change is managed to a defined lifecycle replete with appropriate governance, documentation and reporting
- Support and execute upon the GBM Internal Controls strategy and drive the business’ change agenda.
- Lead governance forums (meetings, working groups) related to the project portfolio
- Ensure that senior management are always appropriately informed in order to drive effective decision making
- Effectively prioritize within and across book of work
- Be coherent and articulate on the Internal Controls mandate globally and understand how it fits within the broader business and regulatory context
What You'll Bring :
- Bachelor / Advanced Degree in Business or Finance
- Minimum 5 years Capital Markets experience in Compliance, Operations, or relevant audit / regulatory experience covering a wide range of product / business areas
- Knowledge of the Canadian and global capital markets
- Firm understanding of the Risk Management frameworks and related policies
- Previous experience in managing regulatory and / or other cross-functional change initiatives and regulatory reform initiatives in a Banking Environment
- Understanding of regulatory governance and the three lines of defense model
- Excellent judgment and business acumen, particularly around escalation and prioritization
- Expert analytic and problem-solving capability
- Proven track record of meeting deliverables and operate under tight timelines
- Leadership experience in a team or project management environment
- Ability to balance competing or conflicting goals of various departments / stakeholders
- A demonstrated ability to collaboratively work in a team environment under tight deadlines
Work Arrangement :
This position is currently a hybrid role, with the expectation that you will work at least 3 days a week in the office. Please note that this is subject to change based on the needs of the business.
