Job Description
This position provides a unique opportunity to work on an extensive fleet of new and late-model equipment including golf course mowing equipment, tractors (up to 40hp), specialized maintenance equipment (aerators / sprayers / top-dressers), gas and electric golf carts. A self-directed individual will have the opportunity to work independently in a dedicated, modern shop space. An ideal applicant will be a team player, maintain successful relationships with vendors and have great diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
Hours : 8 hour day shifts, three days per week, no on-call requirement
Key Responsibilities :
- Experienced in the operation, repair and maintenance of small equipment, both gasoline and diesel type engines
- Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment with accurately
- Ability to follow written and verbal directions
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing about repairs
- Ability to maintain detailed written equipment maintenance records
- Create a preventative maintenance program to ensure all equipment (gas, diesel, electric, etc.) is maintained to the highest of standards promoting the longest possible lifespan of the equipment
- Educate and train field staff on preventative maintenance, proper usage and cleaning protocols of equipment
- Maintain an adequate inventory of replacement parts as to not experience disruption of equipment service.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace that promotes efficiency and safety
- Maintain mower blades and set reels at proper heights as directed by the Golf Course Superintendent
- In consultation with the Golf Course Superintendent, deliver short and long-term capital requests for equipment needs while sourcing best avenues for trade value on owned equipment
- Manage occasional repairs to the rental power cart fleet
- Schedule and perform routine maintenance and repairs
- Welding and fabrications as required
- Work effectively & cooperatively with fellow employees
- Calibrate components and instruments according to manufacturers’ specifications
- Complete all maintenance and repair activities in a safe and healthy manner according to Company policies and procedures
Qualifications
The successful applicant should have a formal education or experience in mechanics and have knowledge in diesel / gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
Automotive technician certification an assetSmall engine certification an assetExperience and knowledge of golf course equipment is an assetExcellent communication (written and verbal), time management, and organizationWelding and fabrication experience is an asset (MIG and ARC welding)Team player with a positive attitudeMechanics tools requiredLicense / Certification : G Class Driver’s License (preferred)
