It's a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation.
Under the guidance of the Maintenance / Production Foreman, the PLC Programmer / Electrician conducts the daily operations of the Maintenance Department. The PLC Programmer / Electrician will have the opportunity to be trained and career progression through three different levels in the department as skill and ability are gained.
Additional responsibilities of the PLC Programmer / Electrician include :
- Responsible for design and implementation of control solutions geared towards process improvement at the CGC Oakville plant.
- Serves as the main PLC programming resource for the plant, designs and implements effective HMI controls.
- Interfaces with production operators, maintenance, management, and engineering groups to achieve the best possible solutions to process control problems.
- Maintains and troubleshoots plant manufacturing operations to ensure safety and reliability. Implement new technology to maximize plant efficiency.
- Position reports to plant maintenance / production foreman and works closely with the corporate process control group.
- The Process Control Programmer will work with plant management and maintenance technicians to implement process control solutions for general process improvement and capital projects.
This will include but not be limited to :
PLC specification and programming, including HMI development following established corporate-wide standards.Specify and apply instrumentation for process application.Machine control circuitry and motor control design, including safety circuits and adherence to CSA, CEC, ESA, NEC and NFPA codes.Configure and control Variable Frequency Drives.Electrical design, including creation of schematic diagrams.Position requires :
Technical knowledge of personal computer architecture, peripheral equipment, printing, network management including network wiring and topology, technical support in telecommunication hardware and software.Installing, configuring, maintaining, and supporting computer hardware, software application, and any other network device pertaining to the process network.Maintenance and support of the plant process network. Work in tandem with the local IT admin to resolve network issues.Provide technical support to plant personnel using process network devices.Qualifications :
5+ years of experience in a similar electrical or controls position.Licensed electrician or working towards obtaining a license. Diploma, specialized education, or related training in process control is preferred.Advanced Allen-Bradley / Rockwell Compact Logix, PLC 5, and MicroLogix PLC programming experience.Previously worked in a manufacturing setting, troubleshooting, and implementing process control solutions.Strong Ethernet IP and Profibus communications design, configuration and troubleshooting experience.Knowledge of variable speed drive configuration and programming.Experience with Rockwell PowerFlex 700 Series drives a plus.Ability to read and create electrical and process control drawings; AutoCad / Draftsight skills are a plus.Strong math skills and ability to interpret engineering drawings.Strong verbal and written communication and decision-making skills, with the ability to work in a diverse workforce environment.Self-starter with excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities effectively.Additional Information :

Pay : CAD$37.46-$47.17 / hour
