A division of Cornwall Economic Development, Cornwall Tourism serves to market Cornwall as a visitor destination. The office’s main functions include destination marketing, visitor services, support for festivals and events, and tourism investment attraction.

Reporting to the Tourism Officer, the Summer Student, Tourism Ambassador position is responsible for :

  • Serving as the front-line staff for visitor information services. This includes interacting with visitors and potential visitors to Cornwall in person, online and by phone and providing guidance to visitors on memorable events, attractions, and experiences to explore while visiting the City and region.
  • Staffing and overseeing the operation of Cornwall Tourism's seasonal visitor information centre in Lamoureux Park. This will include maintaining the centre, assisting with in-person enquiries, handling sales of water and other items and stocking information.
  • Representing Cornwall and providing information about the City to visitors at specific festivals and events in the community throughout the summer.
  • Assisting with efforts to market Cornwall as a visitor destination by using writing, digital and photography skills to promote the community on the Cornwall Tourism website and various social media channels.
  • Assisting with the delivery and stocking of information racks at local attractions, accommodations and public places with City of Cornwall marketing materials, maps and other resources.
  • Assisting with other initiatives and projects such as the Seniors on Wheels program, the municipal bike rental program, the historic walking tour program and Arts in the Park program.
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications :

  • Full-time day student at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance the fall of 2025.
  • Strong verbal communication skills in both English and French
  • Strong writing and photography skills along with experience in social media marketing
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Asset Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in retail and customer service an asset
  • Valid Class G2 or G driver’s license (preferred)
  • Please note : This position involves work on weekends and occasional evenings, as well as some physical requirements (such as lifting boxes) and work in outdoor elements.

    If selected for this role, you will need to provide :

  • Must obtain and maintain a satisfactory CRJMC (Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check), at the candidate’s own expense.
  • Successful reference check (two work-related references, with a minimum of one being a direct supervisor)
  • Verification of school status
  • All Summer Students must be Full-time day students at a recognized secondary or post-secondary institution and be returning to full time attendance in the fall of 2025.
