Description of the Position :

The Manager, Public Relations and Stakeholder Relations provides strategic leadership and is an integral member of the Public Relations team. This role manages day-to-day requests and proactive opportunities for ambassadors to participate in storytelling, brand marketing communications, media relations, and fundraising.

You will :

  • Conduct interviews, onboarding, briefing, coaching, cultivation, and stewardship of ambassadors.
  • Research and cultivate trusting relationships with patient families to deliver effective story content.
  • Write patient profiles, media materials, and other communications that demonstrate the need and impact of donor support.
  • Navigates sensitive situations with children and families throughout their health-care journey.
  • Review written materials to ensure accuracy of patient stories and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Identify new ambassador leads to ensure diverse representation.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with hospital staff to secure new patient leads.
  • Work with agency partners to recruit and integrate ambassadors into productions.
  • Represent SickKids Foundation at events, media interviews, and other activities.
  • Assist with responding to time-sensitive issues on social media involving patient families.
  • Support media relations through pitching and development of media materials.
  • Assist with speaking notes development for events involving the Senior Leadership team.

Qualifications :

  • 5-7 years of experience in communications or community engagement roles.
  • Post-secondary education in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Proven track record as a skilled leader who motivates high-performing teams.
  • Excellent writing skills and the ability to conceptualize stories based on trends and campaigns.
  • Solid understanding of earned media and social media best practices and platforms.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Press style and industry tools.
  • Ability to build relationships and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion when working with sensitive information.
  • Total Compensation Package :

    Hiring Salary Range : $81,251.00 – $101,566.00, with the ability to progress to a maximum of $116,803.00.

    Hours : 35-hour work week, flexible work options available.
