We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join our team in the education sector, located in Vancouver, British Columbia. In this role, you will have the opportunity to guide and train various departments in their budget development, forecasts, and costing models. You will be tasked with simplifying complex financial data and ensuring adherence to our financial policies. This role offers a short term contract employment opportunity.
Responsibilities :
- Guide and provide advice to service departments and academic areas regarding their financial and position budgets.
- Develop and validate financial and position budgets, investigate variances, and update budgets and forecasts.
- Review budget documents, forecast worksheets, and variance analyses for completeness and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and external agencies to develop budgets, forecasts, and costing models.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and other departments to update employee position related information and budgets.
- Maintain financial models such as budget and forecasting models, and calculate key inputs to the planning process.
- Conduct analysis of historical and current financial data to identify variances, propose budget changes, and report on trends and financial impacts.
- Ensure adherence to our financial policies and prepare reports, analyses, and forecasts for internal use and external compliance purposes.
- Proficiency in Budget Processes is required, with the ability to manage, track, and reconcile budgets effectively.
- Strong understanding and experience in Capital Management, to efficiently allocate resources and manage the organization's capital.
- Ability to perform Variance Analysis, identifying and explaining any deviations from the projected financial performance.
- Experience in managing Cost Centers, with a focus on controlling expenses and improving efficiency.
- Excellent Budgeting skills, with the ability to develop, implement, and monitor financial plans.
- Proficiency in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP& A), with the ability to forecast financial outcomes and guide business decisions.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel is required, including the ability to create complex formulas, pivot tables, and reports.
