Job description

Position : IT ManagerWe are looking for a seasoned IT Manager to lead and manage the technology infrastructure for a prominent organization in the Edmonton area. This role involves supporting the main company and its network of related entities, covering all facets of IT systems, data management, communications, and organizational security. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, driving innovation, and aligning technology solutions with business objectives.Note : This position requires the successful candidate to reside in Edmonton AB, due to the necessity of working within the Edmonton office.Key ResponsibilitiesIT Operations ManagementManage daily IT operations, including the deployment, maintenance, and support of IT systems, networks, hardware, and software across all entities.Assess organizational IT needs, research solutions, and implement effective technology strategies.Oversee end-user services, including help desk support and incident resolution.Project Development and LeadershipDevelop project plans, manage timelines, and ensure successful delivery of IT initiatives.Provide leadership and mentorship to IT staff, fostering growth and development.Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and the IT department to identify and deliver solutions that align with business goals.Ensure the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for IT initiatives.Security and Risk ManagementImplement and maintain security procedures to protect data, assets, and network access.Collaborate with risk management teams to ensure Business Continuity Plans (BCP) and Disaster Recovery Plans (DRP) meet organizational needs.Conduct audits and monitoring to identify vulnerabilities and implement corrective measures.Strategic Planning and Financial OversightPlan IT operations and strategies, focusing on resource optimization and innovation.Oversee financial aspects of the IT department, including budgeting, expenditure tracking, and cost reviews.Prepare cost / benefit analyses and present justifications for technology investments.Vendor and Contract ManagementNegotiate contracts with vendors, outsourcers, and consultants.Manage vendor relationships to ensure service delivery meets expectations.Technology Implementation and MaintenanceEnsure efficient implementation, monitoring, and upgrades of IT systems across multiple business units.Stay informed on emerging technologies and assess their potential benefits to the organization.Lead the IT team’s efforts to ensure systems adhere to policies related to architecture, security, disaster recovery, and service delivery.Team Development and CollaborationRecruit, supervise, and assess IT staff performance, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.Foster collaboration across departments to ensure IT initiatives positively impact organizational results.Other DutiesPerform additional tasks as assigned to support operational and strategic goals.Core CompetenciesCustomer Service and ReliabilityDeliver high-quality service that meets or exceeds organizational expectations.Adhere to deadlines and commitments with accuracy and dependability.Adaptability and LeadershipEffectively manage change and demonstrate resilience in response to challenges.Inspire team members by identifying strengths, facilitating their development, and addressing gaps constructively.Successfully lead both in-office and remote teams by fostering communication and collaboration.Communication and CollaborationCommunicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, demonstrating strong listening skills and clarity in written and verbal communication.Handle interpersonal conflicts professionally and tactfully.Build cross-departmental trust and facilitate goal-oriented alignment.Strategic and Ethical ThinkingMaintain confidentiality and uphold high ethical standards by modeling integrity and organizational values.Collaboratively drive results that align with the organization’s long-term strategy.QualificationsEducation & CertificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (required).Additional certification (e.g., MCSE) is considered an asset.Experience8+ years in IT leadership roles with extensive experience in managing IT infrastructure, strategies, and teams.2–4 years of experience in Network Administration or Domain Administration is preferred.Proven success in change management, project delivery, and strategic IT alignment.Technical ExpertiseAdvanced knowledge of data governance, data center management, and IT system architecture.Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks and installing various IT systems.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (intermediate skills in Word and Excel required).Communication and Soft SkillsFluent in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills.Demonstrated ability to lead teams, inspire collaboration, and foster professional growth.Compliance and ClearancesMust successfully pass a credit check, criminal background check, education verification, and employment reference check.Why Join This Role?This opportunity allows you to lead a critical IT division, fostering innovation and making a tangible impact on organizational success.
