Position : Litigation Law Clerk
Location : North York, ON (3-minute walk from the subway)

Compensation : $90,000 - $95,000 annual salary, with benefits available after 3 months

Due to our practice’s growth, we are seeking an experienced Law Clerk to join our team, with a focus on mortgage enforcement and real estate transactions.
Job Summary
As a Law Clerk, you will play an integral role in our practice, managing court filings, client communications, and document preparation for mortgage enforcement and real estate cases.
You will work closely with the managing lawyer to ensure cases proceed smoothly from start to finish, interacting with clients and court staff as required.
This role requires a proactive, highly organized individual with strong drafting skills and familiarity with Ontario court processes.
Key Responsibilities :
Court Filings & Document Management :
- Prepare, file, and serve legal documents at various Ontario courts, with a focus on the Toronto Court (Ontario Superior Court, Civil) and occasional Court of Appeal cases.
- Manage extensive documentation for mortgage enforcement cases.
Client Interaction & Reception Support :
- Assist clients in person by handling inquiries, scheduling appointments, and collecting payments.
- Support reception as needed, especially when main reception staff are unavailable, to maintain professional client interactions.
Drafting & Document Preparation :
- Draft, review, and edit legal documents related to mortgage enforcement.
- Manage templated documents, personalizing them to meet each client’s needs with a high level of detail and accuracy.
Case Management & Scheduling :
- Coordinate bookings for examinations, discoveries, and virtual court meetings (e.g., on Zoom).
- Organize transcripts and manage follow-ups on undertakings, refusals, and other support tasks.
Specialty in Mortgage Enforcement :
- Work with private lenders and mortgage brokers on high-value loan disputes and repossessions.
- Prepare documentation to support repossession actions or settlement agreements and coordinate with brokers and clients throughout the process.
Qualifications :
- Extensive experience in civil litigation ideally within commercial and mortgage enforcement law.
- A Law Clerk designation.
Skills :
- Proficiency in drafting legal documents, with a strong eye for detail.
- Familiarity with Ontario court filing protocols and deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for in-person client interactions and independent case management.
Other Requirements :
- Ability to work on-site at least 3 days per week; parking is available.
- Comfort handling sensitive client cases and managing time efficiently in a busy practice.
Compensation & Benefits :
- Salary : $90,000 - $95,000 per year.
- Benefits : Standard benefits package (50% employer contribution after 3 months).
