Job description

We are seeking a STORAGE TECHNICAL ANALYST / Backup and Data Restoration Consultant to support the migration, monitoring, and management of backup systems across multiple Health Authority sites. The consultant will be responsible for handling pre-migration backups, data restoration, and transitioning to new backup infrastructure solutions. This includes ensuring reliable backup performance, addressing issues, and maintaining updated documentation.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity DataProtect, and other backup technologies, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-site, and multi-tenant environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Pre-Migration Backups : Manage and execute backup tasks before migration to ensure data integrity and security.
  • Backup Monitoring & Remediation : Monitor backup systems daily to ensure successful operations and address any failures or issues in a timely manner.
  • Data Restoration : Perform restoration of data as required, ensuring the integrity of restored data.
  • Backup Infrastructure Management : Oversee the management, maintenance, and monitoring of backup infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
  • Backup Conversion :
  • Transition from NetBackup Traditional agent to VMware Image-level only backups for non-SQL servers.
  • Migrate backups from NetBackup to Cohesity (image-level and agent-based backups).
  • Installation & Configuration : Install backup clients and configure servers to ensure proper backup integration.
  • Communication : Regularly communicate the status of backup operations and issues to required stakeholders, ensuring full transparency.
  • Documentation : Maintain and update backup documentation, ensuring records are current and reflect any changes in processes or infrastructure.

Key Skills and Experience :

Technologies :

  • Veritas NetBackup (8.x and 9.x) technology, including :
  • VMware, SQL, and Exchange backups.
  • Migration and replication of backup images.
  • Cohesity DataProtect (6.6.x), including :
  • VMware, SQL, and Exchange backups.
  • Agent-based and image-level backup configurations.
  • OST-Based Backup Appliances : Experience with appliances such as HPE StoreOnce for backup operations.
  • Hyper-Converged Infrastructure : Basic understanding of Nutanix or HPE Simplivity HCI environments.
  • Proficiency in Cloud-based Storage Technologies and backup solutions (MS Azure).

    • Work Experience :

  • Strong experience with Veritas NetBackup and Cohesity backups in large-scale, enterprise environments.
  • Backup Image Migration & Replication : Proficient in handling backup image migrations and implementing data lifecycle policies.
  • Data Centre Operations : Solid experience with multi-tenant data centres, working with service providers and large-scale IT infrastructures.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution : Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex backup-related issues efficiently.
  • Enterprise Environment : Experience in large-scale enterprise settings with diverse IT landscapes.
  • Stakeholder Communication : Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with various stakeholders across multiple sites.
