VFD Specialist

The Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) Specialist duties include the governance of the Vehicle Process Engineering Controls & Robotics (VPECR) VFD Specification as well as continuous improvement projects to optimize drive operation in the plant. Additionally, the scope of this position will span the core functions of Vehicle Process Engineering in Body in White, Paint and General Assembly. This position will monitor plant specific VFD projects and issues and will set the VFD Specialist schedule accordingly.
The VFD Specialist will include providing System Matter Expertise on VFD(s) to support plant operational requirements and to reduce equipment failures. To accomplish this task and other technical activities, the VFD Specialist will support and receive support from Plant Maintenance Supervisors.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to :
- The VFD Specialist will support production as a technical expert in Controls & Robotics VFD Systems :
o Software and hardware floor revisions to CoC standards
o VFD applications in BIW, General Assembly, and Paint
o Technical innovation projects through solution testing and task validation
o Specification documentation through EWOs, MPIs, Kaizens and FIS reports
o Review changes to CoC Standards and documentation through EWOs, MPIs and Kaizens
o Responsible for project timing and goals
o Provide direction to resources
o Coordinate with others to overcome roadblocks to success
o Author new VPECR VFD Standards
o System Mater Expert (SME) for VFD systems
o Support for all VFD equipment found within the plant environment
o Liaison between ME and Plant employees
o PDES (Process Design)
Design Layout reviews
Design Safety Reviews
o EEM (Early Equipment Management)
MPI Investigation participation
o FI (Focused Improvement, Kaizens, Suggestions….)
Write 5 or more suggestions annually
Lead or participate in 3 Kaizens annually
o INN (Innovation Pillar)
Support innovation projects as applicable
o DM (Digital Manufacturing Pillar)
Reduction in Non-Value Added Activities (NVAA)
Support initiatives for Virtual Validation
