Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is one of the premier culinary destinations in the Bow Valley. We are proud to boast two fantastic restaurants (Maclab Bistro and Vistas Dining Room), where our menus have been inspired by fresh, local ingredients and are infused with creativity. We also hold numerous banquets and receptions throughout the year where our guests are able to experience creative, memorable and inspirational menus that leave a lasting impression.
The Food and Beverage department is looking for an experienced Manager to manage the standards of Banff Centre's food and beverage outlets and to assist in the smooth and efficient operation of food and beverage services across campus, ensuring the delivery of excellent customer service and strong management of teams.
Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director, Food and Beverage, below are some key accountabilities :
- Provide leadership and supervision to their staff on a daily basis, ensuring adherence to company policies and the delivery of exceptional customer service
- Prepare a daily work plan, prepare and make decisions required for the planning of weekly requirements, and assess future service requirements for resources needed
- Creatively manage and provide an elevated dining experience that focuses on quality in customer service
- Responsible for the hiring and scheduling of all positions reporting to this role
- Develop and update effective training programs pertaining to the assigned venue
- Provide direction and feedback to staff in the form of coaching and performance management
- Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of all food and beverage areas and equipment at all times
- Manage inventory of restaurant equipment and supplies that will accurately meet the demands of the assigned venue throughout the year
- Assist the Director of Food and Beverage in setting budgetary requirements, while making recommendations regarding the annual operating and capital budget
- Promote, manage and maintain positive employee relations at all times in conjunction with Banff Centre Policies
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Post secondary education in Hospitality Management or the equivalent in related experienceMinimum 2-3 years' experience as a Manager / Assistant Manager in a multi-outlet food and beverage operationFine dining management experience is an assetGood knowledge of wine and AGLC regulationsStrong planning and organization skillsValid driver's licenseExcellent communication skillsKnowledge of 4-star properties with regards to banquet / meeting set-ups, proper food handling practices, a la carte dining, fine dining, buffets, cafeteriasSound knowledge of MS Office, property management systems and point of sales machinesHands on understanding of Alberta Serve Safe and Alberta ProServe is requiredASIP and Wine I certificate an assetWillingness to work weekends, shift work and may be required to work split-shifts as neededAbility to work in a physically demanding position; e.g., lifting, bending, standing for extended periods of timeEmployment Terms & Benefits
