We are looking for a Pay Master to join our team in our Montreal office!
Reporting to the Director of Payroll Services, the Pay Master will support the payroll and year-end processes for some of our divisions across Canada.
You will be responsible for preparing the payroll, sending files, compiling data and preparing reports required by various departments within the organization.
Your day as a Pay Master
- Carry out activities related to entire payroll cycles, such as the preparation, verification and submission of the payroll for approximately 500 employees across Canada.
- Make changes to employee files (create new employee files, adjust salaries, add or modify taxable benefits and / or miscellaneous deductions, termination of employment, record of employment,).
- Provide necessary explanations to staff on various deductions and other payroll requirements.
- Carry out source deductions such as support payments, wage garnishments, etc.
- Prepare journal entries and submit various monthly and one-off reports as necessary.
- Issue manual remittance to various government (BCEHT, WorkSafe BC, WorkSafe SK, etc)
- Actively participate in year-end tasks : Reconciliation of taxable benefitsValidation and issuance of T4 and RL1 slipsIssuance of the T2200 and TP64.

- Analyze and record group insurance invoices.
- Carry out various reconciliations.
- Support the Director of Payroll on various projects.
- Perform any other related tasks.
Our Ideal Candidate
- 10 years of experience in a similar role.
- College diploma in administrative techniques or accounting, or any other relevant training.
- Payroll Compliance Professional certification (PCP).
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel).
- Bilingual with strong verbal and written communication skills in French and in English as the candidate will be required to interact in English with stakeholders (colleagues and clients) outside Quebec.
- Good analytical skills and the ability to manage stress and meet deadlines.
- Detail and quality oriented.
- Strong ability to ensure confidentiality at all levels.
- Outstanding organizational skills and excellent time management.
