EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

CONTRACTOR POSITION : 20 Hours Per Week Between September And June, With 4 Flex Hours Per Week To Address The Needs Of The Foundation

The Foundation provides grants, scholarships and recognition to support students in striving for excellence.

The Education Foundation of the Grande Prairie Public School Division requires a new Executive Director, reporting to the Foundation Board, to realize the Foundation's vision. The Executive Director is mainly responsible for the Foundation's consistent achievement of its mission and organizational objectives such as fundraising, granting of scholarships, and the application for public and private sector grants. The primary mandate is to ensure that the Foundation continues to update and implement a long-range strategy aligned with the Foundation's mission and ensures consistent and timely progress on its goals. Other key responsibilities include program development and administration to ensure the alignment of programs with the Foundation and Division priorities. The successful candidate will also demonstrate financial leadership by managing budgets and monitoring long-term strategic fiscal plans.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the not-for-profit sector
  • Post-secondary education in a related field
  • Preference given to candidates with experience leading fundraising activities and applying for grants
  • Skills in strategic planning and event coordination will also be considered an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles as they relate to non-profit / volunteer organizations
  • Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the Foundation
  • Knowledge of best practices involved with financial management of an organization
  • Knowledge of the key components of project / event management
  • Proven ability to create, maintain and encourage successful interpersonal relationships and partnerships and to support them through use of exceptional communication skills
  • Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered
