Job Description
We’re looking for a Stewardship Officer to join our growing team and help deepen relationships with our valued donors, volunteers, and partners. If you have a passion for philanthropy, storytelling, and engagement, this role is for you!
As a Stewardship Officer , you will play a vital role in ensuring that our supporters feel connected, valued, and inspired by their impact. You will be responsible for stewarding relationships with donors and volunteers, crafting compelling communications, and enhancing the donor experience through thoughtful engagement strategies.
Your work will directly contribute to CAWST’s goal of reaching 100 million people with clean water, sanitation, and hygiene by 2030.

Key Responsibilities
Stewardship & Donor Impact Reporting
- Develop and execute a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program to strengthen relationships and increase engagement.
- Craft compelling donor impact reports, acknowledgment letters, and thank-you communications to showcase the difference our supporters make.
- Coordinate and improve stewardship materials, ensuring timely and accurate tax receipts, fund utilization tracking, and compliance reporting.
- Partner with Finance and Accounting to monitor and report on program spending.
- Implement innovative donor recognition initiatives that align with best practices in philanthropy.
Development Communications & Engagement
Work collaboratively to draft engaging content for donor reports, website updates, fundraising campaigns, and impact stories.Create pre- and post-event communications that enhance donor and volunteer participation.Support proposal writing, grant applications, and development campaigns by crafting compelling narratives that inspire action.Coordinate with Marketing & Communications to ensure consistent and high-quality donor messaging across all platforms.Relationship Building & Volunteer Engagement
Build and maintain meaningful relationships with donors, partners, and volunteers through personalized engagement strategies.Conduct face-to-face meetings, attend donor events, and create strategic opportunities for supporters to connect with our mission.Collaborate with internal teams to align donor and volunteer interests with CAWST’s strategic priorities.Support volunteer engagement efforts, ensuring that volunteers feel valued and empowered in their roles.Qualifications
What You Bring
3-5 years of experience in a professional setting such as donor relations, fundraising, development writing, marketing, communications, or client relations.Minimum of 2 years experience in fundraising, stewardship, or donor relations in a non-profit environment.Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities —able to translate complex information into compelling and engaging donor-focused content.Strong ability to foster and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, volunteers, and internal teams.Proficiency in CRM systems, data-driven fundraising strategies, and Microsoft Office tools.Knowledge of international development and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) is an asset.Passion for philanthropy and commitment to CAWST’s mission.Preferred Qualifications :
Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset.Experience in grant writing and institutional fundraising is an advantage.A post-secondary degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.Additional Information
