Intermediate Heavy Civil Construction Estimator

Location : Kelowna, BC & Remote Sites

Salary $125000 to $150000 Based on Experience

Are you a seasoned ESTIMATING professional in heavy civil construction with a knack for precision and a passion for seeing projects come to life from the ground up?

We’re seeking a dynamic Estimator who thrives in the field, understands the demands of boots-on-the-ground operations, and leverages cutting-edge tools like HeavyBid to shape the future of infrastructure throughout British Columbia. Based in Kelowna, BC, this role combines technical precision, collaborative teamwork, and opportunities to make a tangible impact on major projects.

About the Role As an Estimator, you’ll be at the heart of creating winning proposals and tenders, working closely with the Lead Estimator and contributing to all aspects of project planning. This role offers the chance to hone your skills on large-scale heavy civil projects while also taking initiative on smaller opportunities. Whether it’s calculating takeoffs, analyzing specifications, or collaborating with project teams, you’ll play a key role in delivering results.

What You’ll Do :

  • Analyze and interpret project drawings, specifications, and scope to create accurate quantity takeoffs.
  • Develop project schedules and construction methodologies tailored to heavy civil projects.
  • Collaborate with estimating and operations teams to deliver precise and competitive bids.
  • Review and understand various contract models and their terms and conditions.
  • Contribute to project planning with a focus on earthworks, concrete, and remote-site challenges.
  • Adapt quickly to changing demands in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail.

What You Bring :

  • 5+ years of experience in heavy civil construction estimating (field experience is a bonus!).
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software and tools like HeavyBid.
  • A solid understanding of construction activities, particularly in earthworks and concrete.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Technical diploma, engineering degree, or professional designations (ASTTBC or EGBC) are assets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
