Job description

We are seeking an experienced and professional Controller to join our team. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in Senior Finance or a similar role. Dealership / automotive experience would be an asset. This individual is passionate, professional, has a positive attitude, and shares our obsession with Finance. This role requires working in the office 5 days / week.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Controller in an automotive dealership.
  • Familiarity with OEM financial reporting requirements and manufacturer incentive programs.
  • Proficiency in CDK software for accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with the ability to use basic formulas and functions such as VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIF, and conditional formatting
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities.
  • Accounting diploma or degree is a must
  • CPA designation or equivalent accounting certification is preferred.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable / receivable, deal posting, payroll, and inventory control.
  • Utilize CDK software to maintain financial records and reporting
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, audit requirements, and OEM reporting standards.
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial operations.
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and financial policies to safeguard dealership assets.
  • Collaborate with department managers to provide financial insights that support business decisions.
  • Work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, floorplan management, and cash flow monitoring.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of government filings, payroll remittances, and HST / GST returns.
