Position Overview A Dentist is needed to provide weekly dental services at a local detention facility. Extractions, root canals, and fillings will be regular services, as well as providing pain management relief and responding to dental injuries from trauma and long-standing complex chronic dental health concerns. Health education and teaching will also be an important part of this role. Responsibilities Provide primary dental care, including x-rays and health promotions to inmates. Manage all aspects of dental care services, including coordination of care provided by dental specialists to ensure continuity and integration of care. Document all dental care in the dental records folder in compliance with relevant legislation and professional standards of practice, including dental assessments, treatment, and consultations. Provide urgent dental services for patients. Diagnose and treat acute dental conditions and / or injuries. Assess and manage pain secondary to dental problems appropriately. Treat and prevent infections due to dental problems. Address any dental problem that makes it impracticable for a patient to masticate. Qualifications Holds a certificate of registration issued by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). Minimum of three years of experience providing dental services. Valid CPR and First Aid certification. Ability to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check and an OPP Security Screening Level 3. Experience working with people with addictions. Experience working with people experiencing mental health issues. Experience with urgent / acute dental care. Experience in providing dental care for marginalized and diverse populations, including those who have experienced trauma. #J-18808-Ljbffr
