Procurement Specialist

A new opportunity is available in the mining industry for a professional with experience in procurement and category management, particularly within civil engineering and construction services. This role involves developing a comprehensive fact base to support strategic procurement decisions, analyzing market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost structures. The position is based in Montréal and is part of a global procurement organization.

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement a fact base for construction services to inform category strategies and sourcing practices.
  • Conduct thorough market analysis and data consolidation, including upcoming needs, consumption trends, and supplier capabilities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with business needs and support the development of supply agreements that drive competitive advantage.
  • Conduct interviews with key stakeholders and perform detailed market and internal data analysis.
  • Drive value through rigorous analysis of cost structures, market trends, and supply chain dynamics.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies, standards, and systems, including the use of Ariba
  • What you will need to succeed :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, category management, or supply chain, preferably in construction services.
  • Strong analytical and data management skills, with expertise in Excel for modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Solid commercial acumen with proven results in category and contract management.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and drive initiatives forward.
  • Bilingual fluency in English and French to collaborate daily with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and partners in both languages within a global procurement environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with reading technical drawings is an asset.
  • Previous experience in mining, heavy industry, or with the company is strongly preferred.
