Primary / Junior or Junior / Intermediate, Special Education Part 1, Special Education Part 2 or Specialist Preferred
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Works in consultation with classroom teachers, parents / guardians and student (where appropriate), to develop, implement and evaluate programs / services provided to students;
- Collaborate in the IEP development process including a plan for transitions;
- Assists the classroom teacher by generating ideas and suggestions for program accommodations and modifications; provides suggestions with respect to strategies and resources;
- Collaborates with the classroom teacher and delivers instructional programs for special needs students (provides individual and / or small group instruction, delivered in a classroom or a small group setting);
- Assesses individual students by means of observation, information assessment and standardized educational assessment, as appropriate;
- Participate in the In School Team, as appropriate; and
- Assists in the facilitation of communication and partnerships between parents / guardians and school staff.
In accordance with the OECTA Collective Agreement, the Board shall identify the three (3) most senior applicants to the position who hold the required qualifications for the position, to be interviewed.
If no qualified occasional teacher applies, or if all qualified applicants decline the interview, the Board shall consider external qualified applicants who are not on the occasional teacher roster.
The Board shall access and review the information contained in an applicant's portfolio for hiring purposes. Applicants are encouraged to ensure their portfolio is current and contains all relevant information, including information about Additional Qualifications that are not currently listed on your Certificate of Qualification as issued by the Ontario College of Teachers.

The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board offers a Christ-centered education to over 13,000 students from Brant, Haldimand, and Norfolk counties, the City of Brantford, Six Nations of the Grand River and Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.
The district has approximately 2,100 full and part-time staff committed to supporting Belonging, Teaching and Learning, and Wellness for all.
