What we are looking for :
In this role, you will utilize your strong clinical skills in the application and removal of casting materials, conducting cast checks, limb monitoring, and the maintenance and application of traction equipment.
In addition, you will actively be involved with patient teaching and you will maintain the fracture rooms within the program.
What you bring to the role :
- Completion of a recognized Orthopaedic Technologist program, or apprenticeship program and sponsorship by an Orthopaedic Surgeon or recognized equivalent
- Successful completion of the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists examination (written, oral and practical components) or commitment to complete within 1 year of hiring
- Current registration with the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (CSOT)
- A minimum of 3 years of recent Orthopaedic Technologist experience preferred
- Experience with dressing applications is an asset
- Experience working in a hospital setting preferred
- Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of anatomical structures and their relationships with one another
- Ability to interpret simple fractures and dislocations on x-ray film
- Ability to maintain continuing education program as established by the Certification Board of the CSOT
- Excellent assessment and problem solving skills
- Effective time management skills; ability to organize work and set priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work well independently and as a member of the team
- Working knowledge of computer technology
- Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
- Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule :
The successful candidate will work 4 hour week-day (Monday - Friday) shifts with flexibility to cover additional shifts as needed.

Compensation :
OPSEU03 : $32.95 - $37.93 per hour
