Role Purpose :
This position has responsibility for overseeing the Canadian and international aspects of Woodbridge’s tax compliance and reporting, including tax accounting for global affiliates, Country-by-Country reporting, and surplus calculations.
This role will also provide technical leadership for Woodbridge’s transfer pricing function supporting documentation and compliance and contributing to Woodbridge’s overall tax strategy.
The role has significant interaction with other members of the Tax team and the corporate and global finance leadership team.
Responsibilities :
- Review and oversight of foreign (non-Canadian and US) entity income tax provisions, including consolidation of foreign provisions prepared by local country controllers
- Responsible for Country-by-Country Report and Master File, working with global finance team to prepare Local Files and ensuring compliance with OECD guidance and local regulations
- Oversight of international tax compliance reporting requirements including the review of statutory tax reporting for international locations
- Support the company’s transfer pricing requirements including calculations, documentation, intercompany agreements and assessment of strategic planning opportunities
- Assist foreign affiliates with transfer pricing matters and responding to tax authorities globally
- Work with the VP, Tax & Treasury on the implementation of the Global Minimum Tax reporting
- Research and evaluate repatriation strategies including responsibility for Canadian surplus calculations
- Assist with global M&A and post-acquisition integration activities including tax due diligence, structuring and review of agreements
- Working with the VP, Tax & Treasury to develop, evaluate and implement tax planning opportunities and structures
Qualifications :
- University degree in Economics, Accounting or Taxation
- Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA preferred)
- In-depth Tax Course
- At least 7 years of corporate tax experience in industry or public accounting, including 5 in international tax
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian tax law and tax treaties and strong tax research and analytical skills
- Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines operating with a high degree of personal accountability
- Experience leading projects of varying scope and complexity
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills in spreadsheet modeling
