  • Participate in the treatment and follow up of patients, after curative and palliative treatment planning.

  • Eligibility for appointment to medical staff of BC Cancer, and Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
  • Eligibility for appointment to the University of British Columbia.
  • In-patient and oncology experience is an asset but is not required. No previous experience in medical oncology is required; BC Cancer will support your training, involving both didactic virtual teaching, and in-clinic patient-related instruction.
  • The City of Vernon is well known for its beautiful setting amid valleys, mountains, rivers, and lakes. Bordered by Kalamalka, Okanagan and Swan Lakes, Vernon boasts one of the best climates in Canada with mild winters and hot, dry summers, offering outstanding recreational opportunities, making it a leading tourist destination in Canada, and a very desirable place to live. The population exceeds 50,000 with a healthy diversified economy based on services, manufacturing, forestry, and tourism. The City of Vancouver is hours away by car, or 45 minutes by air from the Kelowna International Airport, a 30-minute drive from Vernon, along one of the most scenic highways in Canada.

BC Cancer ( ) is committed to reducing the incidence of cancer, reducing the mortality from cancer, and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer. BC Cancer provides a comprehensive cancer control program for the people of British Columbia in partnership with regional health authorities to deliver a range of cancer services, which include prevention, screening and early detection, diagnosis and treatment, research, education, supportive care, rehabilitation, and palliative care. It operates six regional cancer centres in Surrey, Kelowna, Vancouver, Victoria, Abbotsford, and Prince George, along with two research centres that conduct research into the causes and cures for cancer.

BC Cancer is part of the  Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA)  which plans, manages, and evaluates specialty and province-wide health care services across BC.  PHSA embodies values that reflect a commitment to excellence. These include : Respect people

  • Be compassionate
  • Dare to innovate
  • Cultivate partnerships
  • Serve with purpose.
  • PHSA and BC Cancer are committed to employment equity and diversity and hires on the basis of merit. We welcome applications from all qualified individuals, including visible minority group members, women, Aboriginal persons, persons with disabilities, persons of any sexual orientation or gender identity. Citizens and permanent residents of Canada will be given priority. We recognize that our ability to provide the best care for our diverse patient populations relies on a rich diversity of skills, knowledge, background and experience, and value a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment.

Reconciliation is an ongoing process and a shared responsibility for all of us. The BC Governments’ unanimous passage of the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act was a significant step forward in this journey—one that all health authorities are expected to support as we work in cooperation with Indigenous Peoples to establish a clear and sustainable path to lasting reconciliation. True reconciliation will take time and ongoing commitment to work with Indigenous Peoples as they move toward self-determination. Guiding these efforts Crown agencies must remain focused on creating opportunities that implement the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Mandate.
