About the Opportunity
Expression of Interest for tuition sponsorship to complete Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Certificate Program with Dalhousie University. The program will consist of both didactic and clinical components. The didactic portion includes five (5), three (3) credit courses through online delivery on a part-time basis. The clinical portion requires a full-time commitment (37.5 hours weekly) for sixteen (16) weeks, a total of 600 hours. Successful candidates will be placed on an Education Leave during clinical and be paid at their current salary.
This is an educational opportunity available to current NSH employees who are certified / licensed imaging technologists in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiological Technology.
Tentative start date for online part-time didactic component : Late June 2025 - April 2026
Tentative start date for onsite full-time clinical component : May 2026
Locations Available (Please note, clinical placement may be at a different site depending on capacity) :
Northern Zone :
Two (2) opportunities at Aberdeen Hospital and Colchester East Hants Health Centre
Central Zone :
One (1) opportunity at QEll (multi-site position, rotating between Victoria General Hospital, Halifax Infirmary and Dartmouth General Hospital)
Western Zone :
One (1) opportunity at South Shore Regional Hospital or Yarmouth Regional Hospital
Eastern Zone :
Two (2) opportunities at Cape Breton Regional Hospital
Successful applicants will agree to complete the program and continue working for a defined Return of Service period. Please note, not all opportunities will have a 1.0 FTE position available. If at the completion of the program, you are unable to secure a MRI Technologist position, you will remain in your current classification.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following :
- Currently certified / licensed imaging technologist in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiological Technology within Nova Scotia Health and willingness to enroll in the Dalhousie MRI Certificate Program by April 30, 2025 . Applicants who studied under competency profiles prior to 2014 will need a Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) and may need to complete additional coursework.

Hours

Compensation and Incentives
Successful candidates will be placed on an Education Leave during clinical and be paid at their current salary.
Following completion of MRI Certificate program, successful candidates will be paid at the following rate when working in the classification :
MRI Technologist :
36.88 - $44.11 hourly
