As our Business Analytical Specialist, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between the business and technology within an organization. This position is responsible for aligning technology solutions with business objectives, facilitating communication, and ensuring that analytics meet the organization's needs. The Specialist is obsessed with the customer’s success and will be resourceful to bring innovations and business needs to fruition. This candidate isn’t afraid to get embedded into the business by developing a trusting relationship between operations and the Business Intelligence Technology & Security (BITS) organization. Focusing on analytics delivery, innovation, problem-solving and improving the customer experience to gain competitive advantages in the marketplace.

This role is based out of Calgary, Alberta

Work Environment

In an office environment, full-time permanent position.

A Day in The Life

  • Business and BITS Alignment Develop a deep understanding of overall business objectives and align analytics strategy to support and enhance those goals.Identify key business trends, opportunities, and challenges that can be addressed through data-driven insights.Collaborate with customers to understand their near and long-term goals and challenges; create and align on analytics roadmaps.Attend business unit operational meetings and gather / take ownership of technology-related actions.Translate business requirements into technical specifications and solutions.Prioritize Business Intelligence Technology & Security (BITS) related activities to ensure value creation is balanced with resource availability.
  • Application Management Work alongside other data and analytics teams to ensure business continuity and improvements.Collaborate with BITS teams to ensure foundational toolsets and capabilities support long-term business objectives.
  • Change Management Collaborate with business units to manage change associated with adopting new analytics strategies and tools.
  • Project Management Support Work in collaboration and in support of the PMO on projects that will impact the customer base.Understand business requirements to ensure that solutions will work and are fit-for-purpose and scalable as they become operational.Develop and execute the operational handoff of new solutions.
  • Business Applications Ability to understand the value of the data available and identify new data sources.Work alongside the Business Applications team to ensure application development supports the creation of valuable insights for the business.
  • Training & Support Delivers a “How can I help” philosophy for their customers.Provide training and support to end-users to maximize the effective use of technology.Work with the Data and Analytics team to troubleshoot and resolve analytics-related issues.

Skills, Experience, & Qualifications

The individual in this role will have :

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to understand business, operations, and technology.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • A team player who values relationships and collaboration and can bring people together to solve problems.
  • Experience with evolving business processes, upgrading technology and change management.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills to build commonality and alignment and create a path forward together.
  • Self-awareness and ability to provide and receive constructive feedback.
