Position OverviewAs part of this project, Calian is currently hiring a Material Technician Instructor to support instruction at RCEME on a full-time basis, in an on-site setting at Canadian Forces Base Borden.ResponsibilitiesProvide instruction of practical and theoretical knowledge in welding and / or other training objectives including metal work, auto body, fiberglass, textile, machining, refinishing, or composite repairProvide theoretical and practical instruction for up to 30 students per classProvide instruction individually or in conjunction with other instructorsCreate training aids using supplied boards, equipment, and other multimedia materialsMonitor and correct unsafe workshop behaviourIdentify and report student disciplinary and academic problems to the Section HeadSecure and store training aids in designated areas at the end of each training dayReview and implement RCEME School DP1 and DP2 instruction policies, including tool control, classroom management, material management, social relationships, and harassment preventionNavigate the Defence Learning Network (DLN) to monitor student progressAdapt to changing working conditions such as programme changes, unforeseen changes in scheduling, and change to subject matterFamiliarize and follow ALL policies outlined at RCEME School and the Conduct of Training Manual (CTM) related to the instruction provided to the DP1 and DP2 studentsMaintain classrooms, laboratories, and facilities in a clean, serviceable state, ensuring fire, security and safety regulations are adhered toControl, score, and analyze all Enabling Checks (ECs) and Performance Checks (PCs)Advise Course Director regarding deficient and unserviceable training aids and facilitiesProvide course training documentation, lesson plans, student assessments and evaluations to the Course DirectorInput entries in Student Record Book (SRB) for the purpose of preparing course reports, counselling, etc.Assist the Course Director / Section IC in counselling students on their performanceInvigilate examsParticipate in course design and development activitiesAct as Subject Matter Expert (SME) as neededOther duties as assigned or requiredMandatory QualificationsMust hold a Regular Force Mat Tech (QL5, DP2 or RQ Cpl) Certificate OR the following combination of education and certification : Secondary School Diploma OR General Educational Development (GED); Workshop Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS); AND One (1) of the following : Provincial or Inter-Provincial Red Seal Ticket for all position Welder in SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and Oxy-acetylene Welding, orCWB Journeyman’s Welding Certificate.Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the repair welding industry or in the manufacturing industry as a certified welder; Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience teaching adults in the last ten (10) years.#
