Description :

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital is seeking a faculty member at the Full Professor Level with diagnostic expertise and an established academic program in gastrointestinal pathology and artificial intelligence. The anticipated start will be July 1, 2025 or a mutually agreeable date.

We are seeking an individual who values working in a collegial environment with superb clinical material and collaborations with dedicated clinical GI colleagues. The successful candidate will join an academic faculty with diverse diagnostic expertise, teaching responsibilities and research activities. Mount Sinai Hospital has internationally renowned and expanding clinical and pathology programs in gastrointestinal disease (both inflammatory and neoplastic), including a pathology consultation service that is highly subscribed by centres throughout the country. We utilize leading-edge diagnostic technologies. The candidate’s responsibilities will include clinical practice in GI pathology, research, and teaching as well as administrative responsibilities as necessary.

Candidates must have a medical degree and hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anatomical Pathology, or equivalent, and be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. At least 15 years’ experience in GI pathology is required. The preferred candidate must be an excellent diagnostician with a demonstrated interest in teaching and a track record in clinical translational research.

Research interest in artificial intelligence, and its application to whole slide images / digital pathology is required. Interest in molecular diagnostics would be an asset. In addition, the candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology, University of Toronto at the Professor level.

Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Uniform Minimum Level of Compensation (UMLC) in the Province of Ontario which is currently $383,911. The UMLC program, instituted by the Ministry of Health, ensures that your total compensation package is equal to that of other laboratory physicians in the Province of Ontario.
