Job description

As part of the Manufacturing Engineering Team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the processing and implementation of product design releases to meet quality, timing, cost and safety objectives with a focus on DC circuits, logic and related software.

Key Responsibilities and Duties :

  • Process engineering releases to ensure a cost effective, timely, reliable and safe product introduction. Create required manufacturing documentation
  • Act as a resource for production when it comes to Electrical / electronic issues on the line.
  • Develop shop floor work instructions; including method outline sheets (assembly, welding and paint), job hazard analysis and safe work procedures
  • Conduct product structure and product cost evaluations
  • Determine tooling requirements and arrange for tooling development
  • Create tooling drawings when required
  • Complete time study analysis and provide process improvement initiatives
  • Monitor new product launches and track / coordinate product / process improvement actions (CCS process)
  • Create cost justifications for new facilities and equipment
  • Liaise with other departments (purchasing, quality, maintenance, production, etc) to ensure timely implementation of engineering releases
  • Review / initiate deviation requests. Coordinate with the tool room and outside tooling suppliers’ activities to ensure a timely implementation of product releases.
  • Support safety and health initiatives through improvements to facilities, processes and tooling
  • Maintain records and prepare reports related to responsibilities and duties

Job Requirements :

  • Completion of a Manufacturing Technologist program in electrical / electronics is preferred or related experience
  • Experience working with Electrical / electronics in a manufacturing setting. Preference given to those with mobile equipment knowledge
  • Thorough understanding of shop floor processes / procedures
  • Good computer skills; knowledge of Excel and Word programs, CAD and Inventor software
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Good time management and organizational skills
  • Familiar with BOM / product structuring
  • Strong problem solving abilities
  • Experience with ISO 9000 certification
  • General knowledge of shop floor safety rules and regulations
  • Good planning and organizing skills with the ability to work independently on assigned project to meet set deadlines
