Campus Security and Resource Officer

Start Date : As Soon As Possible

Salary Range : $44,396.12 to $60,065.34

Location : Henlow Campus

Monday to Friday, Evenings - 2 : 30 pm to 10 : 30 pm

The Campus Security & Resource Officer is responsible for assisting in maintaining a safe and inviting campus environment by ensuring the safety and security of MITT’s community, assets and property. They are to be a resource to staff, students, and visitors to enhance their campus experience.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Provide a feedback loop to allow students the opportunity to express concerns, requests, and additional supports. Provide reports as appropriate to departments.
  • Conduct inspections of life-safety equipment such as AED’s, emergency eyewash stations, First Aid kits and portable fire extinguishers.
  • Conduct regular visits to all campus locations for security reviews and general contact.
  • Respond to service calls, request for assistance and enquires from staff, students and visitors.
  • Check access control, monitor CCTV and alert systems.
  • Enforce parking policy and monitor campus traffic.
  • Assist in training contracted security guards on policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Provide on-site direction to contracted security guards.
  • Conduct incident investigations and complaints from within the College.
  • Be knowledgeable of all MITT Emergency Procedures.
  • Conduct fire drills and lock down procedures.
  • Evening point person for Police and Emergency Services.
  • Evening first responder to emergency situations.
  • Meet a flexible work schedule including evening and weekends; be on call for emergencies.

Required Qualifications and Experience :

A combination of related education and experience may be considered.

  • Valid Manitoba Security Guard License.
  • High school Diploma.
  • First Aid / CPR Certification an asset.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the security industry.
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • Preferred Qualifications and Experience :

  • First Aid / CPR Certification an asset.
  • Previous experience in an educational environment.
  • Conditions of Employment :

  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Record check including vulnerable sector and Child Abuse Registry Check.
  • An eligibility list may be created for similar positions. Developmental opportunities may be available for candidates who do not meet all of the requirements of the  position.
